If you're in the mood for some great music, some great physical comedy and plenty of laughs, PITCH PERFECT may be just what you're looking for.
The always terrific Anna Kendrick stars as Beca, a University freshman that joins the all-girl college singing group, The Bellas.
Growing stale and rigid under the hilariously stiff Aubrey (Anna Camp), Beca brings a more modern take and some great mixing skills to the group and raises them from outcasts to competitors.
Some of these groups are really talented and with the benefit of some clever scripting and production values for their performances that stretch credibility to a high note, offer great performance after great performance.
Singing all their own songs, the cast is terrific. Rebel Wilson is Fat Amy, as UN-PC and in your face as her name implies, Adam Devine is LOL funny as rival male chorus member Bumper and Hana Mae Lee damn near steals the show as the ultimate soft talker.
As in "Best in Show", some of the biggest laughs are saved for the competition commentators. John Michael Higgins and Elizabeth Banks are John & Gale, the TV/radio announcers and experts on collegiate singing competitions that provide some fall out of your chair size laughs.
Between their seemingly improvised banter and Wilson's physical comedy, PITCH PERFECT sings its way to a very enjoyable B.
